I'm writing lectures, so finding myself with less time to wander about taking pictures. Today, Saturday, I've been preparing a class on the US artists of the 1930s. How to summarise the injustices and tensions of the period with just a few images?


A photograph of Black Mountain students heading off from the steps of Lee Hall to the work farm sends me out into into the fields, in spite of the wind and bad weather.
